SCAP Funding For Food Producers

Updated: Mar 28

Funding can be challenging to find for early stage food manufacturers. The Government of Canada has announced the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP) funding opportunity.

SCAP is both a federal program and provinciallly adminsitered funding with a focus on agri-food production.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) delivers the federal only programs and each province has their own programs they offer under the SCAP umbrella.

The AAFC website lists their different funding opportunities:

This link is specific to SCAP and guides you to learn more about SCAP funding from each province or territory.

TIPS:

  • Save time by taking a look at the listed eligible recipients and expenses for each funding opportunity. This helps you screen out funding that will not apply to you.

  • Reach out directly to the SCAP representative at the provincial or federal government level to determine if the funding opportunity is a fit. Some funding websites have contact information, and in some cases you need to find the general contact info and work your way to someone who can guide you on the SCAP funding.

Funding applications can be lengthy but if you see a good potential it is worthwhile to apply. If you would like to use a 3rd party who will apply for funding on your behalf, check out: Mentorworks.ca
